Eden, New York – Jeffrey and Colleen Smith faced every pet owner’s nightmare when their beloved four-year-old golden retriever, Zoe, went missing during a devastating tornado that struck their hometown. The EF-2 tornado, with winds exceeding 115 miles per hour, wreaked havoc in Eden, leading local authorities to declare a State of Emergency.
The Smiths, already coping with immense personal challenges as Colleen battles a Stage 4 brain tumor and undergoes treatment in Houston, Texas, were devastated to learn that Zoe had disappeared amidst the chaos of the storm. Jeffrey Smith expressed the anguish of losing Zoe, describing it as akin to losing a family member. He explained that Zoe, frightened by loud noises such as fireworks, likely panicked during the storm and managed to escape from their home.

Around 50 volunteers immediately mobilized to search for Zoe, combing through the area meticulously. Their efforts were rewarded when Zoe was discovered safe a few miles away from home, on Youchum Road.
