A charter plane carrying Sen. JD Vance, the running mate of former President Donald Trump, had to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee due to a door seal malfunction, according to the campaign. The incident occurred on a Boeing 737 shortly after it departed from Milwaukee. Campaign spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk explained that the plane declared an emergency, returned to the airport for repairs, and then resumed its flight to Cincinnati, where Vance resides. The Ohio senator had been in Milwaukee for a campaign event with the city’s police association.
This incident comes just a week after Donald Trump’s plane was diverted while en route to Montana for a rally. While this emergency landing turned out to be relatively minor, it highlights ongoing concerns regarding Boeing’s 737 models. The 737 Max, a newer version of the plane Vance was on, has been under increased scrutiny. In January, an Alaska Airlines flight had a midair blowout, creating a hole in the fuselage, which raised further questions about the assembly and safety of these planes.
