According to authorities, the body of a man from North Bend who had been missing since December 15 was discovered Sunday morning.
After going to photograph the king tides that surged along the Oregon coast that weekend, Joseph Neill disappeared. In the days and weeks that followed, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, North Bend police, and numerous volunteers looked for him. His vehicle was discovered across the bay from North Bend, close to Jordan Point.
Around nine in the morning on Sunday, North Coos Dispatch received a call from an oyster farm informing them that someone may have died in Haynes Inlet, which is located east of Highway 101 and close to North Bend. According to a news release, authorities identified the body as belonging to Neill after discovering it on the inlet’s southern beach.
