The four-mile paved

travels through Astoria along the Columbia River’s south bank. Admire the scenery, take in the salty air, hear the gulls, stop inside a restaurant along the route, and then return to the West or East Marinas on the Astoria Riverfront Trolley.

The mile-long

is a classic in Oregon, with the large sandy beach on one side and the attractions of Seaside on the other. explore the Seaside Aquarium along the prom before heading into town to explore the Carousel Mall (300 Broadway, 503-738-6728), grab some ice cream, go to the arcades, or take a trip in the bumper cars.

The South Jetty Trail, which is paved and one mile long, links

platform with views of the ocean and Newport’s attractions. The route soon comes to an end, but you can continue strolling to Yaquina Bay’s attractions or cross the Art Deco Yaquina Bay Bridge, which is a strong candidate for the most picturesque bridge on the coast.
