‘Baby Duck’ Avery White touches down in Indianapolis for Big Ten championship game

The city of Indianapolis She’s here.

When the No. 1 Oregon Ducks play No. 3 Penn State in the Big Ten championship game on Saturday, one of their smallest—and possibly most influential—fan bases will be present. Along with her parents, Avery White, the 8-month-old in a duck costume who captured the heart of Autzen Stadium during last week’s game versus Washington, traveled to Indianapolis. On Saturday afternoon, the family touched down.

Before going to Lucas Oil Stadium for the game, White attended the Big Ten fan fair in downtown Indianapolis, where he met supporters and the Oregon Duck mascot. Thanks to donations on a GoFundMe page they created, her parents were able to cover the cost of their hotel in Indianapolis. Additionally, they were able to take advantage of complimentary flights from the Sacramento region provided by a friend who works for Southwest Airlines.

“Awesome support from strangers on the GoFundMe,” said the father, Avery White. Really great, and I’m grateful for it. We were very happy to be able to get out here and wanted to do our best.

When Baby Avery wore her distinctive outfit at the Indianapolis airport, everyone knew her right away. The university’s athletic department also gave Emily and her parents more Oregon Ducks clothing. The former neutrals will undoubtedly not be supporting the Nittany Lions.

It was a little warm on the journey, but when we arrived, we changed her diaper and dressed her as a tiny duck, White recalled. “Is that the duck baby from the (Washington) game?” asked one guy right away. That was amusing, then.

With their newborn child going viral and turning into a sort of cult celebrity among Ducks fans on social media, the Whites have had a very busy week.

The family stayed with the friend who first assisted them in obtaining aircraft tickets on Friday night after their standby flight, which had been originally scheduled to travel through Phoenix, was rerouted through Dallas. They stated Lucas Oil Stadium’s game operations staff has been informed of their impending arrival and is now on the scene. Additionally, during Saturday’s game, the Baby Duck is anticipated to soar on the big screen in her father’s arms.

My mother said, “Oh, you guys don’t matter anymore,” after she was born. White stated, “It’s all about the baby.” And that’s absolutely true now. on a much larger scale.

He chuckled as he thought about how strange the entire trip had been.

It’s all about her.
