An Augusta man, Zeric Wideman, 25, was arrested on Monday and charged with six counts of aggravated assault following a violent altercation that escalated into a shooting.
According to an incident report, the confrontation began when Wideman approached a residence and complimented a woman, leading to a tense exchange with her boyfriend. When asked to leave, Wideman allegedly displayed two firearms and threatened the victims.
After being asked to leave again, Wideman retrieved his firearms, entered his vehicle, and fired several shots toward the residence, targeting three individuals.
The situation worsened when, approximately 10 to 15 minutes later, Wideman returned with an unidentified accomplice and fired multiple shots at the residence and a vehicle in the driveway.
Deputies who arrived at the scene found several bullet holes in a vehicle left abandoned in the victims’ driveway and reported damage to several other vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
