Alleged drunken driver arrested after crashing through cinderblock wall

After smashing his automobile into a cinderblock wall close to Bethany early on Wednesday, a man whose blood alcohol content was more than double the legal driving limit was taken into custody.

Around 12:50 a.m., a collision was reported close to Northwest West Union Road and Laidlaw Road. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that Matthias Bider, the driver, was not gravely hurt. He had a 0.19 percent blood alcohol content.

Deputies discovered the 27-year-old bidder and his wrecked Volkswagen Jetta at the damaged four-foot wall. He was arrested and sent to the county jail on accusations of reckless driving, criminal mischief, and driving while intoxicated.
