Air stagnation advisory issued for S. Oregon from Tuesday to Friday

The National Weather Service issued an air stagnation advisory for Central Douglas County, Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, Eastern Douglas County Foothills, and Jackson County on Monday at 3:27 a.m., which is in effect from Tuesday at 10 a.m. until Friday at noon.

“Weak winds, inadequate mixing, and inadequate ventilation will be caused by strong valley inversions. According to the weather service, this will lead to stagnant air conditions that will retain pollutants close to the surface. “Mixing and ventilation should be better at the south end of the Rogue Valley from around Talent to Ashland due to stronger SE winds.”

The weather service states that “people with respiratory problems may experience problems due to poor air quality.” “Persons with respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.”

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
