Former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee at the time and current president-elect, left her mother, Alexis Nungaray, a voicemail the day after Jocelyn Nungaray’s burial in June.
The message, according to 28-year-old Alexis, influenced her choice to attend Trump’s campaign rallies, which pushed her into the national immigration discussion and helped preserve the memory of 12-year-old Jocelyn. Authorities claim that two Venezuelan nationals entered the country illegally, but they have entered not guilty pleas to the charges of her murder.
In the voicemail, Trump added, “I’m just calling to give you and your family my warmest regards.” All you can do is your best. It’s a terrible situation. This was not supposed to occur.
This is the voicemail that Trump left.
