Eugene In the Big Ten Championship game, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter will present Oregon’s offensive line with its most difficult individual test of the year.
With 54 tackles (19.5 for loss), 10 sacks, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles going into Saturday’s conference title game, Carter is the conference’s defensive player of the year and is almost certain to be named a unanimous All-American.
According to quarterback Dillon Gabriel, he wreaks havoc. He is a disruptive player who is really physical, but I also think it’s pretty amazing how he can switch between being very physical and having speed and skill.
We know we will be playing against a very strong team, therefore we have complete faith in our men. Since it’s a championship, there are two teams that have worked hard to get there.

The No. 1 Ducks (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) have restricted the effect of some of the best edge rushers in the conference, such as Josaiah Stewart of Michigan, Oluwafemi Oladejo of UCLA, and JT Tiumoloau of Ohio State. With multiple sacks in four games, including one against Ohio State, and nine tackles for loss, Carter’s sack total is unmatched.
Left tackle Josh Conerly Jr. stated, “I would say he’s one of the better ones we faced all year for sure.” incredibly fast off the ball. Excellent at getting off on each and every snap count. He is a natural freak.
With just five sacks allowed in its last ten games, Oregon is tied for 13th place nationally in sacks allowed (12) and tied for fifth in tackles for loss allowed (43).
Conerly, tight ends Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert, right tackle Ajani Cornelius, and any other players the Ducks add for chip blocks will have to neutralize Carter off the edge.
“He’s very aggressive and twitchy,” Ferguson remarked. is an excellent pass rusher who can get around blockers.
