The Capitol Bar in Northeast Portland, where a 33-year-old nightclub patron was shot in the thigh by an unknown individual last year, won a $1.8 million jury verdict on Wednesday after the establishment’s hired security firm unintentionally allowed the shooter and his firearm inside.
Jose Manuel Carabes Perez is entitled to all of the money he requested from Skynet Security, including $62,000 for his past and future medical and psychiatric care expenses and $1.75 million for his agony and suffering. Carabes Perez’s post-traumatic stress disorder will be treated through therapy.
