Linfield crushes Texas Lutheran to advance in Division III football playoffs

On Saturday in McMinnville, Linfield defeated Texas Lutheran 65-3 to advance to the third round of the NCAA Division III football playoffs, led by five touchdowns from quarterback Blake Eaton, all of which came in the first half.

The Wildcats’ first play from scrimmage was an 82-yard touchdown pass from Eaton to receiver Connor Wolfe, and Linfield continued to score points after that.

In the first half, the Wildcats (10-1) had six of their seven drives end in touchdowns. They led 51-3 at the half after adding an interception return for a safety and a touchdown in the second quarter.

After going 18 of 22 for 291 yards, Eaton missed the second half as Linfield easily won.

As their season came to an end, the Bulldogs (9-2) managed just a field goal in the second quarter.

Next Saturday, Linfield will play Mary Hardin-Baylor; the specifics of the match will be revealed on Sunday.
