CENTRAL TEXAS – The first weekend of summer proved deadly on Central Texas roads, marking the start of the “100 deadliest days” as highlighted by AAA Texas. From June 21 to June 24, a series of severe accidents resulted in four deaths and multiple injuries.
Friday Night: Near Del Valle, a crash involving three cars on Pearce Lane left one person dead and another critically injured, requiring airlift to a hospital.
Saturday Morning: A 32-year-old woman was killed on the 130 Tollway in Williamson County after her speeding car rear-ended a truck tractor.
Saturday Evening: Another fatal accident on FM 969 in East Travis County resulted in one death and two injuries.
Sunday Night: A major wreck on FM 1327 in Mustang Ridge injured nine people, including two children who were airlifted to Dell Children’s Hospital.
Monday Morning: A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in Northeast Austin on Cameron Road near Rundberg Lane.

AAA Texas urges vigilance from both drivers and pedestrians during the summer when road traffic and foot traffic increase. With a record number of travelers expected for the 4th of July, safety reminders include wearing seatbelts, avoiding distractions, and not driving under the influence. Texas law also requires drivers to move over or slow down for emergency vehicles and tow trucks on the roadside.
