Cucumbers sold in 26 states, including Washington and Idaho, that may have been resold elsewhere are being recalled by an Arizona company.
Whole cucumbers that were sold between October 12 and November 26 are being recalled by SunFed Produce LLC. Agrotato S.A. de C.V. grew the cucumbers in Mexico.
Distributors in California, Washington, and Idaho purchased the cucumbers. The Food and Drug Administration cautioned that they may have been disseminated and sold in stores or used to cook food at restaurants in other states, even though they weren’t sold directly to wholesalers or other direct consumers in Oregon.
Customers in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Calgary, Saskatchewan, and Ontario as well as Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin also received cucumbers.
Young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems are most vulnerable to the deadly infection that salmonella can inflict. Fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain are some of the symptoms.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, the cucumbers should be thrown away rather than put back where they were bought. Customers should get in touch with the merchant where they acquired their cucumbers if they are uncertain if they are part of the recall.
Additionally, SunFed’s recall hotline can be reached by calling -888-542-5849, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time.
