2 men found dead in submerged vehicle at Newberg’s Roger’s Landing

According to a statement from the police, two males who were reported missing on Monday were discovered dead in a car that was dragged out of the sea at Roger’s Landing County Park in Newberg.

Eufracio Lopez de Jesus, 39, and Benigno Hermenegildo-Pascuala, 40, were last seen on Sunday evening. Police were informed by witnesses that the two had been fighting.

Investigators tracked the men’s last known location using surveillance footage and phone data. Authorities searched the area on Tuesday after spotting an oil slick on the water close to the park’s boat launch.

According to investigators, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue found Hermenegildo-Pascuala’s car in the water using an underwater camera. Both males were inside when the Lake Oswego Fire Department’s dive crew later retrieved the car from the lake.

According to police, it’s still unknown what caused their fatalities or why the car ended up in the water.
