Eugene When questioned about his relationship with Washington, Dan Lanning’s eyes almost showed the tiniest hint of emotion.
However, the Oregon football coach remained firm Wednesday, adhering to the plan that the No. 1 Ducks (11-0, 8-0 Big Ten) would play another game on Saturday as they approach an unblemished regular season.
After losing against the Huskies 0–3 thus far, it would be Lanning’s first victory over Washington during his time at Oregon. Before the Big Ten championship game, there was an emotional crescendo and a proverbial monkey off the back. However…
Lanning declared, “I want to go win every game.” There is little doubt that many people in this company find significance in this game. From the perspective of alumni, it holds significance for numerous individuals. However, it holds great significance for me.
It’s significant, but winning at Purdue seems to be as well. or Wisconsin. or Michigan.
There is actual history between Washington and Lanning as well as between Washington and Oregon. And the coach of Oregon has admitted as much. Naturally, though, they are not your father’s, grandfather’s, or even your nephew’s one-year-old huskies. The faces and resentments have vanished and transformed.
Unless he is playing Alabama in a fictitious No. 5 vs. No. 12 playoff game in late December, Kalen DeBoer is not trotting out of the Autzen Stadium tunnel. And until, of course, he attends the CFP title game in Atlanta on January 20 after finishing his first NFL season there, Michael Penix Jr. can no longer haunt Lanning.
However, isn’t it still a competition with Washington?
Lanning stated on Monday that it’s a fantastic opportunity.
Yes, but that’s what we hear every week.
He went on to say, “I think college football rivalries are really special.”
Oh?
The excitement among the fans, alumni, and those who have attended events like this for a long time, in my opinion, is one of the things that makes this enjoyable. Of course, it is very important to us.
Yes, exactly! Do those men in gold and purple not deserve the worst? Not even a Siberian husky serves as their mascot. It’s a Malamute from Alaska.
In the end, though, it’s a different game. The next game is coming up.
Oh, all right. It’s there.
Additionally, you don’t play with emotion. It’s more about execution than feeling.
All right, are the guillotines ready?
Because of the way these games are played, they will inevitably be emotional. However, that isn’t going to help you succeed on the field.
You can’t dispute that. After all, the Ducks are unbeaten.
