Minor earthquake recorded near Mount St. Helens

The U.S. Geological Survey reported Wednesday morning that it had detected a small earthquake close to Morton, Washington.

The earthquake struck west of Spirit Lake and north of Mount St. Helens at around 7:52 a.m. The depth at which it was recorded was around 2.2 miles.

According to Earthquake Alerts, the magnitude of the earthquake was 2.3. If you felt the earthquake, you can report it on the website of the U.S. Geological Survey.

Seismologists argue that little earthquakes close to Mount St. Helens are common and not reason for alarm. As of right now, no injuries or damage have been recorded.
