At 12:01 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a frost advisory for the South Central Oregon Coast that will be in effect Thursday from 2 to 9 a.m.
“Temperatures as low as 33 degrees will result in frost formation,” the meteorological agency says.
“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” according to the weather service. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”

In conditions where temperatures, winds, and sky cover are conducive to the formation of frost, frost advisories are issued from May through October (but they may be extended if needed). When the temperature is 36 degrees or lower, this is most likely to occur. The term ‘death frost’ is used to describe frosts that are severe enough to terminate the growing season.
