Eugene Jabbar Muhammad has not lost in the rivalry between Washington and Oregon. After switching sides, the Ducks cornerback intends to stay that way.
After Kalen DeBoer was hired at Alabama and left before Jedd Fisch came in Seattle, Muhammad was one of several players that left UW. He described Saturday’s regular season finale (4:30 p.m., NBC) as just another game, but even though the majority of his former teammates and coaches are no longer there, there is an extra element of playing his old squad.
Muhammad declared, “I’m ready to go out there and compete with my bros.” It is what it is. Everyone is going to compete this Saturday, regardless of who is out there.

Muhammad lined up on defense with a number of the Huskies who are still on the team from the previous season. Before this week’s reunion, Huskies safety Kamren Fabiculanan stated that he will speak with Muhammad.
According to Fabiculanan, Jabbar is my boy. He was obviously on the back end of things with us. No hate, of course, because he was on the team the previous season.
At Oklahoma State, where he started his career, Muhammad seen both the winning and losing sides of the Bedlam rivalry with Oklahoma. In his third round of the Pacific Northwest border rivalry, he hopes to remain on the winning team.
According to Muhammad, the rivalry is really intense. It’s clear that the fans don’t get along very well. Coming from the South, I was unaware of how insane it was. It’s on par with the rivalries between Auburn and Alabama and Texas and OU, which I’m accustomed to. It’s so awesome to be a part of it.
I didn’t get to see it up close because my first Bedlam was COVID, but my second year was kind of insane. To be honest, it’s on par with those. There is animosity among the fans. In 2022, I recall being egged on the Bedlam bus. This is on par with it, in my opinion.

Despite how infrequently opposing offenses have targeted him, Muhammad has remained prolific while at UO, ranking among the country’s leaders in pass breakups (16) from the previous season. If Washington (6-5, 4-4) is ready to test the top cover corner, he can add to his season-high 31 tackles and nine pass breakups.
Denzel Boston (57 catches for 764 yards and nine touchdowns) or Giles Jackson (68 catches for 663 yards and two touchdowns) are the top opposing receivers Muhammad frequently faces. He can apply the knowledge he gained from practicing against both on Saturday night.
According to Oregon coach Dan Lanning, “I’m sure it means a ton.” I am aware that it means a great deal. But once more, I believe he understands that it’s more about actually going out there and doing it than anything else.
