Last season, the Indiana Pacers shocked everyone by making it to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they were defeated by the Boston Celtics.
The Pacers (8-10) have shocked everyone by doing poorly thus far this season. Tyrese Haliburton, an All-Star point guard, has been a major factor.
All of his numbers have decreased. His shooting percentage has dropped to 32.9% from three-point range and 39.3% from the field, which is quite concerning. Last season, he shot 36.4% and 47.7 percent.
However, Halburton scored 34 points and dished out 13 assists in Monday’s 114-110 victory over New Orleans. He made 9 of 18 three-pointers and 12 of 23 field goals.
The visiting Portland Trail Blazers will be in serious trouble if that Haliburton appears on Wednesday night.
Unless they can get one of their guards to start moving. This season, Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons have been incredibly unreliable. This season is the worst Simons has ever had.
The loss of Robert Williams III (concussion protocol) and Donovan Clingan (knee) further weakened the team’s defense. The Pacers will be the opponent for both.
Deandre Ayton, the starting center, might make a comeback. Scoot Henderson’s back strain is the same. Jerami Grant (knee), however, remains unsure.
Prediction: The Blazers are coming off a five-game trip and are injured. After dropping five of six games, the Pacers defeated struggling New Orleans (4-14) and Washington (2-14) in back-to-back victories. This game could be easily won by a healthy Blazers squad. But it’s doubtful because of the team’s ailments.
