After publishing an inappropriate response to the 2024 presidential election, a University of Oregon Greek Life supervisor was placed on leave.
On his public Instagram page, Leonard Serrato, the deputy director of life for the Duck fraternity and sorority, made fun of supporters of President-elect Donald Trump in a tirade full of profanity, according to the Daily Emerald on Wednesday.
Get a better-paying work if you are depressed over the high cost of your food. Improve your life. Obtain education. Take action. Serrato adds three curses in the video and says, “Because you are stupid.”
With a final expletive, Serrato, who was seated in the seat of his car, flashed a peace sign and advised Trump’s fans to “go jump off a bridge.”

The video has been published and is circulating elsewhere, although Serrato’s social media page is currently private. Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, was among many who responded with mockery.
The assistant director has been placed on paid administrative leave while the university conducts an investigation, according to a statement released Thursday by UO administrators, who described Seratto’s remarks as disgusting and inconsistent with the university’s values and mission.
According to a representative, Angela Seydel, the institution verified that the first post had been removed.
According to Seydel, we take seriously our responsibility to create an atmosphere that values respect and diversity of opinion. We recognize the tension that exists between his remarks, his involvement in university student life, and our institutional ideals.
A separate spokesman had previously informed the student newspaper that Serrato’s remarks had been made on his own time, which is well within their rights, and had not brought up a suspension, so that seemed to be an escalation.
A request for comment from Serrato was not immediately answered. Records indicate that he makes $66,145 a year.
In 2014, Serrato, now 40, received a 90-day jail sentence for bringing alcohol to a Fresno State underage party where another student passed away. On the Eugene campus, however, the incident is well known; in a news release from a prior university job, Serrato used it as inspiration for his work.
Trump won the election overall and will be returning to the White House for his second nonconsecutive term next year, despite Oregon’s eight electoral votes going to Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
