These Oregon towns are top Thanksgiving break destinations in the U.S.

According to a recent study of travel patterns, two of the most popular destinations for Thanksgiving break are the Oregon coast and the Oregon Cascades.

Two Oregon communities were included among the top five U.S. Thanksgiving holiday destinations by HomeToGo, which bills itself as the marketplace with the greatest inventory of vacation rentals worldwide.

Lincoln City was ranked number five on the list, and Sunriver was ranked number two.

In addition to a large selection of vacation accommodations, Sunriver provides access to the neighboring Mt. Bachelor ski region. Beginning on Saturday, Nov. 23, Sunriver Resort will have a massive holiday light show.

It is not surprising that Oregon’s ski resorts are a popular travel destination given that La Ni is predicted to bring colder and wetter weather to the area this winter.

According to a news statement, Mt. Bachelor Ski Area opened on November 16—its earliest opening since 1998—after receiving more than 40 inches of snow in early November.
