Elgin Man Sentenced to 36 Years for Strangling Wife and Leaving Her Body with Their Two Young Children

Victor Ayllon, a 38-year-old resident of Elgin, Illinois, has been sentenced to 36 years in prison for the first-degree murder of his wife, Wendy Ayllon. The tragic incident occurred in July 2021 when Ayllon strangled his wife and left her body in their home with their two young children, aged three and four.

The sequence of events began on the evening of July 12, 2021, when a four-year-old boy was found wandering alone near the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and North Aldine Street in Elgin. Police were able to determine the child’s address and, upon arriving at the home, discovered a three-year-old boy at the front door and the lifeless body of Wendy Ayllon inside the residence.

According to the prosecution, Wendy had picked up Victor early in the morning, and they returned home at around 2:16 a.m. Approximately an hour later, Victor left the house. A security camera captured sounds of an argument and Wendy screaming, followed by a loud thud. Victor later admitted to the police that he had strangled his wife during an argument.

An autopsy confirmed that Wendy Ayllon died from manual strangulation. Victor was found at his parents’ house with faint marks on his wrists and was subsequently taken into custody after a hospital visit.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser described Victor’s actions as “utterly reprehensible” and highlighted the traumatic impact on the young children left with their mother’s body. Judge DJ Tegeler, who accepted Victor’s guilty plea, sentenced him to 36 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Fox Valley Magazine
