Pedestrian killed in Lane County crash

On Saturday evening, a car struck a pedestrian on Lane County’s Highway 101, killing the pedestrian.

Just after 8 p.m., Garrick Wall, 40, of Florence, was walking south on the northbound shoulder of the highway close to milepost 192, according to Oregon State Police. Wall, wearing black clothing, was hit by a southbound GMC Terrain driven by James Harpole, 58, of Cheshire, as he tried to cross an unlit portion of the road.

At the scene, Wall was pronounced deceased. Neither Harpole nor his car’s occupants suffered any injuries.
