Police seek Facebook records in death of Portland woman found dead in car with baby in Vancouver

Investigators looking into the death of a 31-year-old Portland woman who was discovered bleeding in a car with her baby uninjured inside are looking for information about her murder on Facebook and other websites.

With her 1-year-old child in a car seat close by, Courtney Clinton’s body was discovered in Vancouver early on Friday, November 1.

At 4:30 a.m., a bystander found the dental assistant parked on Blandford Drive in a rental silver Ford Edge and dialed 911. Investigators concluded that her injuries, which included a wound on her neck that was probably from a sharp object, seemed to be the result of a severe attack.

According to court filings, authorities are looking into the death as a homicide because no weapon was discovered at the scene.

Along with receipts, empty water bottles, and other personal items, officers found Clinton’s wallet and bloodstained vaporizer in the car. Her cell phone was nowhere to be found. For additional examination, swabs were taken from bloodstains found throughout the vehicle.

According to court filings, investigators think that Clinton’s social media activities might contain important information. A friend of Clinton’s told police in a search warrant affidavit that when she believed a meeting was possibly dangerous, Clinton would communicate with males on Facebook Messenger other social media, meet up with them, and post her whereabouts with trusted connections.

According to court documents, investigators were able to secure a search warrant for Clinton’s Facebook information. By looking through the documents, officers hoped to track down Clinton’s whereabouts and determine who she had interacted with prior to her passing.

About three days prior to her discovery, on October 29 at 3:38 a.m., Clinton last sent her whereabouts to a close friend, according to the records. Earlier that morning, she was seen on surveillance tape close to her Portland residence.

Clinton’s sister, Dominique Fuller, launched a GoFundMe page to seek money for burial costs and child care after it was revealed that Clinton had two more children, a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son.

Nearly four months had passed since Clinton’s brother, 25-year-old Donte Mathis, was shot and died in Portland, close to the Madison Suites Motel on Northeast 82nd Avenue.

In the murder of Clinton, no suspects have been identified. Clinton’s family and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward, and the toddler is with family.

“We don’t know who would want to harm her,” Fuller said. To do this to a woman, a mother, or a child is simply abhorrent. Right now, we are fervently praying for justice.
