Oregon-based Lattice Semiconductor may try to buy part of Intel, Bloomberg reports

Bloomberg said late Friday that Lattice Semiconductor, a company located in Hillsboro, is assembling a bid to purchase Intel’s programmable chip business.

According to sources, Intel has been looking for investors to purchase a stake in Altera, the programmable chip company, which it estimates is worth at least $15 billion. In 2015, Intel spent about $17 billion to acquire Altera in the hopes that its chips will enhance Intel’s data center technologies. However, the advantages of merging the businesses were clearly far less than Intel had hoped for.
