As another Oregon school district copes with financial havoc, more questions arise

There is no denying that the little Corbett School District is in dire straits, having to deal with a $3 million budget deficit that is prompting the district to prepare for furlough days and midyear job cutbacks.

It’s much less apparent who in the government is accountable for the budgetary mistakes that caused the 1,000-student district in the western end of the Columbia River Gorge to get into such a mess and whether they could have been identified and fixed sooner.
