Readers respond: Opening Oswego Lake to all

Jackie Williams, my aunt, would sometimes narrate tales of her early 1930s trips to Lake Oswego. No access, no more: Judge orders city to allow public into Oswego Lake, Nov. 15 She had acquaintances who resided on the border of what she characterized as privately owned Oswego Lake.

She often swam there as a guest with several of her friends from Oregon City. They were well aware that the majority of their classmates did not have this option. Every time they visited, they realized that their other pals probably wouldn’t ever be able to swim in the lake. The fact that it appears that at least a portion of the lake will now be accessible to everyone would make them very happy.
