Tree crashes through Amtrak train windshield in Washington state; engineer taken to hospital

While traveling from Vancouver, Canada, to Seattle on Tuesday night, an Amtrak train carrying 48 people collided with a fallen tree, causing the tree to impale through the locomotive’s windshield.

According to an email from Amtrak spokesperson Kelly Just, the accident occurred in Silvana, Washington, at approximately 7:50 p.m.
