Oregon coast resort wins Good Housekeeping Family Travel Award: ‘The location is magic’

The Good Housekeeping 2025 Family Travel Awards have brought national recognition to another Oregon location. The website claims that in order to identify the greatest choices for every kind of family, we examined hundreds of nominations for Good Housekeeping’s third annual Family Travel Awards, which covered everything from booking systems and luggage to destinations, resorts, experiences, and much more.

Additionally, the website outlines how the Good Housekeeping Institute tests applicants for awards, with distinct processes for each category. For instance, in order to identify the ideal vacation spots for all family sizes and trip preferences, travel experts evaluated locations, resorts, attractions, and more. In our comprehensive application form, participants were asked to describe everything from their usual visitors and the best times to visit to what made their place deserving of an award. Along with giving information about diversity, accessibility, and sustainability initiatives, hotels and resorts also detailed in-room amenities, pool features, recreational opportunities, and other offers.

More than 85 trip testers were then dispatched to visit the locations and assess them in a variety of categories, such as WiFi dependability, crowds, personnel, and the check-in process.

Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach is one of the Beach Resorts category winners. Sand dollar hunts at the beach, kite-flying lessons, hot dog roasts, shuttles to the Cannon Beach shopping district, beach bonfires, and a heated indoor pool that lifts the spirits during the region’s frequently gloomy weather are just a few of the features that have earned Surfsand Resort recognition, according to the Good Housekeeping website.

The location is magical, according to a travel tester’s comment, which also mentions that her accommodation overlooked Haystack Rock. According to the Good Housekeeping website, she recommends reserving a Haystack Room since the sight of the 235-foot wonder never gets old.

In June, Surfsand Resort’s $12 million refurbishment was finished.
