Police arrest 4, seize 3 guns in NE Portland traffic stop

Officers seized cash, weapons, and bullets during a car check in Northeast Portland on Wednesday, resulting in four arrests, according to police.

According to a statement released by the Portland Police Bureau on Thursday, a vehicle was stopped for many traffic infractions by the Focused Intervention Team at Northeast Halsey Street and 74th Avenue.

Officers detained all four occupants of the vehicle after discovering a pistol in one of the seat pockets. Two other firearms were discovered by the officers during their search. Police confiscated over 80 bullets and over $3,000 in cash in addition to the three firearms. Elijah Martin, 19, Aerion Purifoy, 18, Lamar Stewart, 19, and Rowan Swanson, 23, were among the four individuals in the car who were taken into custody.

About a month prior, officers had pulled over the same vehicle and confiscated two firearms, according to the police.
