University of Illinois Launches Campaign to Connect Community with Local Research

The University of Illinois is embarking on an ambitious new campaign aimed at fostering a deeper connection between local residents and the cutting-edge research being conducted at the university. Susan Martinis, the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the global and local impacts of the university’s research. “We can see and feel the impact of Illinois research all around us, from interesting events and programs for kids to innovations that bring new industries, companies, and jobs to our communities,” she noted. This underscores the university’s commitment not only to advancing knowledge but also to contributing to the local economy and enhancing community life.

The campaign includes a variety of outreach methods to engage the community. A newly launched website serves as a central hub for information about the university’s research projects. The site breaks down each research topic into separate tabs, making it easy for visitors to explore how different projects impact Central Illinois. Additionally, the campaign features advertisements on MTD buses and billboards throughout the region to reach a broader audience and increase awareness of the university’s research contributions.
