Nearly 50 years after Roger Aguirre vanished from his Chicago apartment, his family is reigniting efforts to solve the mystery of his disappearance.
Aguirre was last seen on November 20, 1975, speaking with a man in a red car outside his home on the 3000 block of West Wellington. Since then, he has not been heard from, leaving his family in a painful state of uncertainty.
The Light the Way Missing Persons Advocacy Project has recently released a flyer featuring Aguirre’s image in hopes of generating new leads. Aguirre’s sister, Carol Erickson, suspects that her brother may have fallen victim to notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who was active in the same areas frequented by Aguirre.
Although Aguirre’s remains have not been identified, Erickson believes he could be one of the five still unidentified victims of Gacy.
“I don’t have peace, and it’s been almost 50 years,” Erickson shared with Fox 32. “I finally let myself believe that he was probably John Wayne Gacy’s victim.” For more detailed coverage on this case, visit Fox 32 Chicago.

In addition to seeking closure, the family is searching for Aguirre’s best friend, known as Ernest or Ernesto, who might hold key information to finally resolve this heartbreaking mystery.
