Man Shot Inside South Loop Diner by Suspect Dressed as Security Guard

A shooting occurred inside a South Loop diner early Friday morning, leaving a 42-year-old man in critical condition. The incident took place at the White Palace Grill on South Canal Street, with Chicago police reporting that the shooter was dressed as a security guard.

The victim was struck multiple times as he exited the diner, sustaining injuries to his back, arms, and hand. He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.

Chicago police have released surveillance footage showing the suspect, who fled the scene in a silver Ford Focus. The gunman is described as being between 25 to 35 years old, 5’7″ to 5’11″ tall, and weighing between 150 to 200 pounds.

The shooting occurred while delegates from the Democratic National Convention were inside the diner, adding to the urgency of the investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Area Three detectives at 312-744-8261, referencing case number JH-398586.
