The FBI and local police in the Chicago suburbs are actively searching for a suspect involved in two armed bank robberies that occurred in rapid succession.
The first robbery took place at the Old National Bank in Chicago Heights around 4:50 p.m., where the suspect brandished a silver handgun and demanded money.
Just over an hour later, the same individual allegedly targeted the Fifth Third Bank in Oak Forest, with police responding to the scene shortly after.
The suspect is described as a male between 30 and 40 years old, wearing a grey or beige shirt, light-colored jeans with ripped knees, and black sneakers.
He was also carrying a black cross-body bag. Notably, the suspect wore different hats during each robbery—a dark-colored baseball cap during the first and a green bucket hat during the second.
Despite no injuries being reported, the community remains on edge due to the seriousness of the crimes. Surveillance footage has provided some clues, and the FBI is hopeful that public vigilance will aid in the suspect’s capture.
