Portland to delay placing pricey new parks levy on ballot

In an attempt to drastically raise the amount of money collected from property owners to support city parks and recreation services, Portland officials have put a stop to putting a planned ballot proposal on the ballot this spring.

Elana Pirtle-Guiney, president of the Portland City Council, told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Tuesday that any such measure, which parks officials maintain is necessary to maintain current service levels, will have to wait until November.
