Argument led to Clatskanie shootout that killed 2 and injured 3, sheriff says

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a gunfight broke out after a disagreement that resulted in the fatal shootings at a home close to Clatskanie on Saturday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, the individual who allegedly fired first was one of two people who perished in the firefight. Nobody has been taken into custody.

Sheriff Brian Pixley said in a written statement, “We are thoroughly reviewing all evidence, including witness statements, to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this tragic situation.”

The sheriff claims that after an unidentified argument, 32-year-old Anthony Hanson drew a revolver and shot four other people inside the house. Ryan Thies, age 21, was one of those four who allegedly retaliated by shooting Hanson dead.

Hanson and 28-year-old Molly Cassidy were discovered dead at the scene by deputies who had been called to the scene of shooting. Renato Pascoal, age 28, and Patrick McKenzie, age 25, were also hurt.

According to authorities, Thies, who was in serious condition, was evacuated to a hospital in the Portland region, while two other injured individuals were transported to a neighboring hospital. The sheriff’s office did not specify which of the three people hurt in the shootings had been released from the hospital.

A house on Ilmari Road, around five miles north of Clatskanie, was the scene of the shootings.
