ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed on Saturday night that the blockbuster trade also involves Los Angeles’ Max Christie moving to Dallas and the Mavericks’ Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris joining the Lakers. According to Charania, the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick is given to Dallas as part of the trade.
According to Charania, the Utah Jazz are also involved in the transaction and will get Jalen Hood-Schifino from the Lakers in addition to two 2025 second-round picks: one from the Mavericks and one from the Lakers (through the Clippers).
Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison told ESPN, “I think defense wins championships.” I think we have a better chance if we have an All-Defensive center and an All-NBA player with a defensive mentality. We are designed to succeed both now and in the future.
