Oregon State defeated Pepperdine by a slim margin Thursday night, ending a four-game losing streak.

At Gill Coliseum, the Beavers defeated Pepperdine 63-54 behind 13 points and a career-high 14 rebounds from Catarina Ferreira.

For over 37 minutes, OSU (10-13, 6-6 WCC) had the lead, but never by a significant amount. The Beavers pulled away by scoring the game’s last six points.

Four Beavers scored in double digits, including Ferreira, who recorded her sixth double-double of the year. For Oregon State, AJ Marotte scored ten points, Tiara Bolden and Kennedie Shuler scored eleven.

Oregon State’s season low for an opponent in conference games was tied by Pepperdine’s 54 points. In the fourth quarter, the Waves only made two of their twelve shots, shooting 33 percent.

Inside, OSU prevailed. The Beavers outrebounded the Waves 44-28 and outscored Pepperdine 28-6 on points in the paint.

After Oregon State scored the game’s first basket against the Waves, they never fell behind. The Beavers’ finest quarter was the opening one, when they led 22–17 after making 9 of 14 shots.

Pepperdine scored the last five points of the half and trailed 35-31 at the half after the Beavers had taken a couple nine-point leads in the second quarter.

Halfway through the third quarter, Kelsey Rees’ tip-in gave Oregon State its biggest advantage, 44-34. The Waves trimmed the margin to 44-42 with eight straight points, so it didn’t last long.

Oregon State led 51-48 going into the fourth quarter, when the Beavers’ defense shut out Pepperdine. The Waves only managed one basket and two free throws in the final 6:39 of the game, trailing 53–50.
