Salutations, PauLO Singer Patti Smith later returned to apologize for having to finish her act early after collapsing during a presentation in Brazil on Wednesday night.
She was seen lying on the ground in a social media video.
According to the Cultura Artistic Theater, a tiny concert venue in the heart of São Paulo, the singer had been suffering from a bad migraine for the past few days and felt lightheaded while performing.
The theater posted a statement on Instagram, saying, “Our team and the best doctors are taking care of her.” A request for comment was not immediately answered by Cultura Arttica.
Smith has been in Sao Paulo for two days to present the Correspondences project with the Soundwalk Collective, a group located in Berlin. She performed some of her writings with musicians during the show.
Smith had been suffering from a severe migraine for the past few days, according to Soundwalk Collective, but he still wanted to perform for you and all of us. On their Instagram stories, the group shared a statement that they and Smith both signed.
Smith passed asleep while reading a piece about climate change approximately thirty minutes into the event, according to the daily Folha de S. Paulo. Before help arrived, she collapsed onto the stage and stayed there for a few minutes. After that, she was wheeled backstage in a wheelchair.
Video on local media showed her subsequently returning in a wheelchair and apologizing.
Sadly, I became ill, and the doctor told me I couldn’t finish. Therefore, we will need to come up with a solution. And I feel awful,” Smith remarked.
In English, the audience replied: Don’t be! We cherish you!
Smith and Soundwalk Collective indicated in their statement that they would be performing on stage on Thursday night. The location hasn’t yet stated if it will be canceled, though.
