Vice President Kamala Harris’ team has been considering potential running mates for the Democratic presidential ticket. Among those being considered is Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. According to NBC Chicago Political Reporter Mary Ann Ahern, Pritzker has met twice virtually with Harris’ vetting team as she narrows down her options for a potential VP nominee.
NBC News reports that Pritzker is one of six candidates who have recently met with the vetting team. The other candidates include Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Both Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper have withdrawn their names from consideration after submitting their vetting materials.
Harris is set to appear with her VP nominee in Philadelphia on Tuesday. This event will kick off a tour of battleground states, which includes stops in Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia.
Harris is expected to be officially nominated by the Democratic Party soon, as she was the only candidate to receive enough delegate support to be included in the virtual roll call to determine the nominee.

Once Harris’ candidacy is made official, she will choose her running mate, and the two are expected to appear together in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
