Greetings, Miss Manners I live in a tropical country as an expat. Fresh fruit drinks can be found on almost every menu because local fruits are inexpensive and plentiful.
How can I participate? Simply consume the liquid and discard the remainder? Dredge the fruit all the way to the rim using the straw as a single chopstick. Try to sip the remaining fruit without choking on the ice by tilting the cup back.
My style was definitely not that of a true Gentle Reader, and I’m currently drinking a crushed pineapple drink.
PERSONAL READER: In general, if recovering the fruit is so critical, forks work better. Just be advised that when they observe the expats enjoying the fruit but throwing away the cocktail, the majority of tropical nations begin to consider sending them home.
