Metro agrees to delay bringing homeless services tax extension to voters

Six months later than the regional administration had initially intended, an attempt to extend and renew the Metro homeless services taxis is now on the verge of being referred to the November election.

After a flurry of meetings over the past two weeks leading up to the measure’s scheduled first reading on Thursday morning, Metro Council President Lynn Peterson suggested delaying it to allow the same coalition of housing advocates, service providers, and business groups that backed the original measure to come together with a single, cohesive vision for the new measure.
