During the newspaper’s 2024 Season of Sharing campaign, readers of The Oregonian/OregonLive contributed close to $170,000 to 13 nearby charity organizations.
The newspaper’s annual Christmas fundraising campaign is called “The Season of Sharing.” In November and December, a few nonprofits are highlighted in print versions of The Oregonian and on OregonLive, and readers are encouraged to support their efforts.
Every year, Oregonian Publishing Co. Public Benefits, a 501c3 charity, manages the donations, disburses the funds, and pays for nearly all administrative expenses.
The 2024 campaign raised $169,945.94 as of January 15. That represents the best performance since 2020 and over $33,000 more than was raised the year before. 630 individuals contributed the money by mail or online.
Contributors might choose to support a general Season of Sharing fund that is distributed equally among the NGOs that are highlighted, or they could choose to donate to a particular charity. The checks will range from roughly $12,200 to $15,800 for each NGO.
