The National Weather Service issued an air stagnation alert for the Oregon Lower Treasure Valley, Harney, Baker, and Malheur counties on Tuesday at 12:58 p.m., which will remain in effect until Friday at 8 a.m.
“A prolonged period of stagnant air, with light winds and little vertical mixing,” the meteorological agency notes. This is because contaminants may be trapped by an inversion close to the surface.
The weather agency says, “People with respiratory problems may experience problems due to poor air quality.” “Persons with respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.”
