According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a winter storm is expected to produce 12 or more inches of snow to the Cascade Mountains between Saturday and Monday, with major snowfall probability for important mountain passes.
Heavy snowfall is 60–70% likely at Government Camp on Hwy 26 and 50–60% likely at Santiam Pass on Hwy 20 and Willamette Pass on OR 58.
If visitors are planning weekend journeys via these regions, they are advised to keep a close eye on the weather and road conditions.
With temperatures falling to 30 degrees but feeling more like 25 degrees, Portland and the majority of the Willamette Valley are still under a cold weather advisory that will extend from 10 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
