In Milan, Illinois, a McDonald’s crew member is receiving a well-deserved award for his outstanding service. Nate Coleman, who has been working at this McDonald’s for three years, has earned a special honor for his dedication and cheerful attitude.
Nate’s commitment to brightening up every customer’s day has not gone unnoticed. McDonald’s owner Trina Gendron shared how important Nate’s efforts are, highlighting the positive feedback from customers in their satisfaction scores. “This really meant a lot to me when all the customers would respond in our customer satisfaction scores how much you made their day, every day when they’d come in,” Gendron said.
During a recent celebration at the restaurant, Nate was surprised with a “1 in 8” letterman’s jacket. This prestigious award is given to only one in eight employees who go above and beyond in their role at McDonald’s locations. The jacket symbolizes Nate’s exceptional service and commitment to his job.
Nate explained his approach to customer service, emphasizing the importance of creating a positive experience for customers. “How I look at it with customer service is this — you go to restaurants and sometimes out of the two [categories] it’s either good food or good service, so I try to help with the customer service so that way if anything is messed up, it’s easier for the customer,” he said.
For Nate, the key to his success lies in fostering a pleasant environment for everyone, from his fellow crew members to the customers in the lobby. His friendly demeanor has earned him a few nicknames at the store, with “Drive Thru Nate” being his personal favorite.

Nate’s philosophy is simple but impactful. “I try to be that consistent positive for people because you never know what they might be going through, and I try to make sure whatever they’re going through I make it better for them,” he shared. His dedication to providing exceptional service and making a positive difference in people’s lives is truly inspiring.
