A man who was suspected of stealing a bank and evading detection for a month was taken into custody by Vancouver police last week.
On December 21, officers were called to a Bank of America robbery in the 1100 block of Southeast 164th Avenue. According to the police, a man entered the bank, displayed a note, and implied that he was carrying a gun. Then he ran away.
Investigators from the department’s serious crimes unit took a picture from security footage and shared it on social media on December 30. Through public tips, police were able to identify the suspect as Ryan Frisbie, who they discovered had been engaged in at least two other bank robberies in the Portland region.
Police shared a picture of a motorhome or RV connected to Frisbie with patrol officers as part of their investigation. On Friday, almost a month later, a patrol officer saw an RV in the parking lot of a gas station in Vancouver that looked a lot like Frisbie’s.
The officer verified that the RV matched Frisbie’s by following it as it departed the lot. After conducting a high-risk stop on the RV near Southeast 160th Avenue, Frisbie was taken into custody by the police.
As of Monday night, Frisbie is still being held at Clark County Jail on a charge of first-degree robbery.
