The self-stable milk produced by Horizon Organic Dairy is being recalled in thousands of cases.As stated in the FDA notice, the milk was sold in Nevada, California, and Arizona.
Because of the possibility of early product spoiling, the Colorado-based dairy is recalling 19,688 cases of its 8-ounce 12-pack Horizon Organic Aseptic Plain Whole Milk.
The recall was first announced by the Food and Drug Administration on December 13, 2024. However, the FDA reclassified the recall as Class II on January 14.A Class II recall, according to the FDA, occurs when using or being exposed to a product that violates the law may have short-term or medically reversible negative health effects.
According to Horizon’s response to Food & Wine, an examination revealed that heat damage during processing was the main factor causing the milk to expire too soon.
According to Horizon’s statement, corrective and preventative measures have been put in place to stop recurrence. No other Horizon Organic products are impacted by this voluntary recall, which has nothing to do with pathogen contamination, allergens, or microbes.
For the recalled Horizon Organic Aseptic Plain Whole Milk, the 12-pack and single unit UPC numbers are 3663207113 and 3663207127, respectively. March 3, March 4, March 6, and March 7, 2025 are the Best By dates on the milk.
