According to the Portland Police Bureau, police responded to a complaint of a purse snatching and gunfire in the Hazelwood neighborhood of Northeast Portland on Monday and discovered a man deceased.
According to police, the victim was found in the parking lot of a Fred Meyer supermarket when officers arrived at 3:50 p.m. on the 1100 block of Northeast 102nd Avenue. After being transported to a neighboring hospital, the man was pronounced deceased.
Police think that while fleeing, the robber or thieves may have fired bullets. It’s unclear whether the victim they located was connected to the reported robbery and the violence that followed.
Police have not provided many details, and the victim’s name has not been made public.
